Sunday Worship Service Relocation for February 2ndAs everyone on Maui experienced, there was massive amounts of rain that approached from the South of Maui last night. Downpours were felt from Kula down to Kihei for multiple hours. As a result, much of North Kihei makai was flooded closing down all of South Kihei Road.
Here is an aerial video of the flooding and damage all around the area of Kihei where Trinity is located: https://youtu.be/bQ7EdRStqCQ?si=2IpJ4K89BNySBqSe There’s more flooding damage to the South in Kihei as well.
Photo from Maui 24/7 of side street next to Trinity last night. The broken white picket fence is on Trinity Church property.
Please note that because of the flooding, Sunday Service at Trinity this February 2nd is relocated to one of two locations/times for your convenience. We have had crews at the church all day today cleaning the mud with heavy equipment, but there is so much more to remove.
After all mud is removed, the entire surfaces of sidewalk and parking lot need to be power washed to remove the slick and slippery mud before we can even get into Kilolani Hall. The mud was so slippery that today as people came to move their cars, they were slipping and falling. Also, it is unlikely all the neighbors’ cars will be moved back onto the street before Sunday so parking will be very limited for the next few days.

Sunday February 2nd is Our Sunday for Fellowship!!
We have communicated with the Bishop as our Vicar, Rev Hau’oli Tomoso, is out recuperating from surgery.
Our Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick has encouraged the people of Trinity to either attend:
8 am Worship Service at Holy Innocents in Lahaina with Father Sanford as Celebrant. Holy Innocents is holding their service at Honolua Methodist Chruch. Episcopal services are being held in the Honolua United Methodist Church by the Holy Innocents clergy. The church location is across from Napili Plaza at 5110 Kohi St, Lahaina at 8 am every Sunday until Holy Innocents is rebuilt. As Holy Innocents is part of Trinity until they can relaunch their Mission Church, we strongly encourage you to join them.
“God is sending us a signal to enjoy our fellowship with our siblings in Christ.”
9 am Worship Service at Kihei Lutheran Church in Kihei with Interim Pastor, Reverend Ron Rucker as Celebrant. As the Episcopal Church is in Communion with the Lutheran Church, we are encouraged to join them in worship. Plus the wonderful people of Kihei Lutheran Church make PBJ sandwiches for A Cup of Cold Water every second Sunday of the month, so this is our opportunity to show gratitude. The church location is 220 Moi Place in North Kihei, right off the Piilani Highway. Rev Ron Rucker has been advised and welcomes all of Trinity congregants with open arms.
We encourage you to join in worship as they are setting out extra chairs and printing more bulletins in anticipation of us joining them.
“God is sending us a signal to enjoy our fellowship with our siblings in Christ.”
PB&J Brigade will next take place on Sunday, February 16th in the Kilolani Hall Kitchen after our Sunday service around 10:15 am, to make PB&Js for the A Cup of Cold Water Outreach Van. The Van goes out, 3x a week, to the homeless encampments throughout Maui!
And Finally a Big Mahalo!
Mahalo to Kats Enrique (Admin Asst) and Joan Vila (Bishops Warden) and Scott and Ryder Zipf (Jr Warden) for leading the effort to get Trinity back in shape for our worship service and community access today and tomorrow. And a special MAHALO to our Landscape Company led by Marcos for stepping in to do the hard work! |
